GEOLOGIC ADVENTURER SKILL

undergraduate +

The Undergraduate geologist adventurer is capable of hiking 2-6 miles daily.  Trails are generally maintained and have 1500 feet or less of change in elevation.  Your backpack will weigh between 20-35 lbs.  Undergraduate time traveling hikers must be healthy and relatively fit.  Previous camping experience is a good idea, but not required.

Our Lake Powell Kayaking adventure offers one of the most unique and special experiences in the West.  Kayak and hike into a lost Eden by day, wine and dine with Chef by night

Lake Powell is perhaps the most unique wilderness on the face of the planet.  On one hand, it is a hostile, unforgiving and rugged canyon wilderness of raw scenic beauty.  On the other hand, it is a calm, cool, mirror blue oasis.  Glen Canyon was regarded by John Wesley Powell, the lake’s namesake and famed explorer of the west, as perhaps more scenic and special than even Grand Canyon.  In Glen Canyon we will find the hidden caves, secret grottos, massive amphitheatres, deep and narrow canyons, and tumbling waterfalls that made Mr. Powell take notice.  Top it off with world-class cuisine under the stars; is this a dream?  Possibly, but we make it a reality.

COMFORT RATINGS

FITNESS
Hikers should have the ability to hike on and off marked trails, to scramble over obstacles and/or barriers with frequent changes in elevation for up to 14 miles per day, carrying medium sized packs of gear. All hikes are one-way, except in case of emergency, and are traveled at a steady walking pace with breaks.
COMFORT

Now this is camping!  Many meals will consist of multi-course, freshly-prepared, restaurant quality meals with wine/drink pairings served on clothed tables.  Accommodations are very comfortable with large tents, raised cots/beds, solar showers, and private bathrooms.

SOLITUDE

While hikers will pass through areas popular with tourists, they will spend most of the time in areas specially selected to be off the beaten path.  There will be practically no wait time or crowds anywhere past the trail-heads. Overnighting is private and remote.
