PSA: Keep our wild places wild. The Sedona Subway PSA: Keep our wild places wild.

The Sedona Subway has become "IG famous", much to the dismay of some locals and those in-the-know. Though sometimes we hear people grumbling about overcrowding and the general vibe of once-secret places becoming the newest social media sensation, Canyons and Chefs believes that nature belongs to all of us, not just a few of us. Places get discovered, it happens. However, it is all of our responsibilities as stewards of these places. If you come here, enjoy it. Take only photos, leave only footprints.

I have seen some incredibly despicable things done in places meant for the ages. Crudely carving your name into petroglyphs? What manner of person are you? Taking things from ancient ruin sites such as pottery shards, arrow points, or metates? You're ruining something you can't even comprehend. Blasting loud music in places that once rarely saw humans? Gross. Chucking your empty beer bottles and trash and leaving it? You will receive the personal ass-whipping of your life courtesy of Canyons and Chefs.

The bottom line is, now that YOU know where this is, now that YOU are going there with 1M of YOUR followers, now that this and places like it are no longer secret, it is now on YOU, personally. Once you came here, you signed a contract with this place and every square inch of nature on Earth. YOU are now responsible for the survival of this place. YOU are the steward. Nobody is going to clean up after you. Nobody thinks your engraved name is important, nor the date that you were there, nor who you "heart".

For the love of the rocks, of time, of nature, please don't list GPS coordinates, or post YouTube videos with step-by-step directions, or even list the general area. Please allow those seeking to find on their own. The reward is greater, the love deeper, the respect more intense. It is now on YOU to be sure that the Sedona Subway makes it to the next generation.

Happy Trails! Keep it wild.
