ADVENTURER SKILL

undergraduate +

The Undergraduate geologist adventurer is capable of hiking 2-6 miles daily.  Trails are generally maintained and have 1500 feet or less of change in elevation.  Your backpack will weigh between 20-35 lbs.  Undergraduate time traveling hikers must be healthy and relatively fit.  Previous camping experience is a good idea, but not required.

Explore some of the most remote, iconic, and spectaular scenery that Utah has to offer by day, then enjoy a fabulous restaurant fireside in the evening

Grand Staircase-Escalante is an absolute treasure trove of incredible scenery, lush canyons, wide open spaces, and enormous beauty.  Our basecamp tour to the Escalante Country takes you through all the wonder and beauty you could possible behold, and then some.  Bucket List sites such as the Golden Cathedral of Neon Canyon, Zebra Slot and the Red Breaks, and the famed Crack-in-the-Wall are just part of this incredible itinerary.  Top it off with world-class cuisine under the stars; is this a dream?  Possibly, but we make it a reality.

COMFORT RATINGS

FITNESS
Hikers should have the ability to hike on and off marked trails, to scramble over obstacles and/or barriers with frequent changes in elevation for up to 14 miles per day, carrying medium sized packs of gear. All hikes are one-way, except in case of emergency, and are traveled at a steady walking pace with breaks.
COMFORT

Now this is camping!  Many meals will consist of multi-course, freshly-prepared, restaurant quality meals with wine/drink pairings served on clothed tables.  Accommodations are very comfortable with large tents, raised cots/beds, solar showers, and private bathrooms.

SOLITUDE

While hikers will pass through areas popular with tourists, they will spend most of the time in areas specially selected to be off the beaten path.  There will be practically no wait time or crowds anywhere past the trail-heads. Overnighting is private and remote.
